Who We Are
We create memorable winter mountain days across Scotland, Wales, the Lake District, and the Peak District & Yorkshire Dales. From crisp ridge lines to quiet valleys, our focus is simple: safe, well-planned adventures that match your goals and the conditions on the day.

Our Approach
- Safety first: conservative, conditions-led planning with clear decision points.
- Tailored routes: we adapt pace, objectives, and terrain to suit your group.
- Winter-ready: advice on kit and skills so you feel prepared and confident.
- Leave no trace: we respect fragile winter environments and local communities.

Meet Tom Goss
I’m Tom—founder of UK Winter Mountain Tours. I’ve spent years hiking and scrambling in all the regions we cover, in all kinds of weather. I love the quiet focus that winter brings: reading the snow, choosing the line, and finding those moments of stillness between gusts.
My passion for the outdoors was inspired by my late dad, Tom Goss Snr, whose love of wild places and steady encouragement shaped how I move in the mountains. This project is a tribute to that spirit—helping more people experience the same sense of freedom and connection.

How It Works
1 Enquire/Book
Pick a region/date and tell us your goals. We’ll confirm availability and outline options.
2 Plan Together
We share a simple kit list and agree an itinerary with sensible “go/no-go” checks.
3 Meet & Brief
On the day we cover the route, conditions, pacing, and safety before setting off.
4 Enjoy the Day
We move steadily, adapt to conditions, and make sure everyone finishes smiling.
Winter Safety & Kit
Winter days can be serious. We keep plans conservative and conditions-led, and we’ll help you get your kit dialled in.
Footwear
Sturdy boots with good grip; winter-compatible soles recommended.
Layers
Base/mid layers, insulated jacket, waterproof jacket & trousers, spare gloves/hat.
Nav & Essentials
Map/compass or GPS, headtorch, food & water, small personal first aid kit.
Winter Tools
Depending on route/conditions: extra traction tools and safety items as advised.
- We’ll confirm specifics based on forecast and terrain.
- If the weather says “save it for another time,” we’ll adjust the plan.

Why We Do This
Connection, care, and shared adventure.
We believe good mountain days are simple: prepare well, move thoughtfully, and look after each other. Every trip is an opportunity to learn something new about the hills—and about ourselves.
In loving memory of Tom Goss Snr, whose love for the outdoors continues to guide our steps.
